Holy Moly! from Fig Farms

Holy Moly! from Fig Farms via direct to consumer delivery on 8/11/2020. THC tested out to 26.78%. Keith at Fig Farms was generous enough to gift this to me, I only paid the tax on this one so a little over $10, but normally this goes for about $65 on the site I believe. If you’re in their coverage area for delivery you can get 15% off your first order by using code FIGFIRST. I don’t get anything for that, just want to give you the heads up so you can get the best deal possible. If you aren’t in the delivery zone, then your best bet price wise is to probably find it in stock at Catalyst store if you can. Fig Farms has some of the most pristine herb I’ve seen on the recreational market so when I saw they had a strain called Holy Moly!, a phrase I use regularly when looking at amazing weed, I knew I had to get my hands on it. These buds are definitely befitting of the name, they look so alien that if you saw it in a glass container amongst a whole host of strange specimens in the laboratory of some mad scientist, it wouldn’t look out of place at all. The surface of these mega foxtailed buds are mostly a deep rich aubergine with the remainder being filled out by sea foam and forest greens, roguish wispy orange-brown pistils, and a armor of triches so hefty it would seem to comprise half the weight of the nug itself.  The champion nug, which made up the majority of the batch, looked like a weed version of a monkey’s paw with only one outstretched boney finger of a wish left on it.

The nose out of the jar is musty ripe sweet bananas coupled with a rubber funk on the back end. On busting open a bud, the banana really comes out and has this bright and delicate fruit candy quality overall that ends up pushing the must and rubber even further into the background. Breaking it down by hand, it leaves a nice stick on the fingers as well as the scent of sweet banana and a bit of mint, while the grinds themselves smell like a banana hi chew up top but I also catch light whiffs of chocolate tootsie roll occasionally when working with the material as well. The dry pull on the jay is a deep sweet fruit, with the banana playing a big role in that, along with a pronounced candy sweetness and a funky rubber undertone. The inhale is smooth, slightly mentholated and chalky sweet on the joint, where the bong has notes of caramelized fruit and rubber that sort of remind me of a nearly burnt thumbprint cookie. The exhale on the joint has that banana sweetness with a minty undertone, where the bong comes off surprisingly creamy with the banana itself remaining present but taking a bit of a backseat. When I paired the bong smoke with a cup of coffee, the flavor clarified further and hit me like a muted banana pudding. Cross checking the flavor on MV1 from @ghostvapesofficial  at 170c I get a light cooling sensation, and a subtle yet rich floral and pine with a hint of mint, whereas at 185c the floral gets stronger, slightly sweeter and has a touch of banana. The headchange comes on fairly quick but is stronger than it lets on at first. I had a laundry list of tasks to get through, and in preparation for the monotony ahead, I figured it best to smoke. Within moments, I’d go from being highly motivated and ready to smash my to do list, to absolutely forgetting I had a to do list all together. I’d find myself in a blissful state, enjoying the buzz, and thinking about how cool it was that I had nothing to do. A minute or two went by and I eventually remembered my task list and got to work. After that initial hurdle I felt present and mostly able to focus without issue, except for a couple occasions where I found myself blank out momentarily, but I was able to pick up right where I left off. I will say that I personally found this herb to have a creative yet cruel lean as I would come up with something perfect, like happened with a scent description for this very review, and then blank out shortly afterward losing the thought forever after. While that only happened a couple times and wasn’t too detrimental it was sort of a bummer, so if you’re the type to smoke and write, just a heads up that you should be quick with your notes. Physically speaking, there’s a mild haziness on the eyes with a slight headband effect across the forehead, and a general sense of comfort and well being. I really enjoyed this batch of Holy Moly! and I could definitely see myself copping it again just to have in my headstash and show off to guests on occasion. if you’re looking for something to slap you into outer space this probably isn’t going to do it for you. However, if you’re looking for some breathtakingly unique, flavorful, meticulously crafted, expertly cultivated flower then look no further than Holy Moly as it checks all the boxes in that regard. Great job Fig Farms, your passion for the plant shines through in everything you do, keep up the excellent work!

Q from 3C Farms

Q from 3C Farms on 7/14/2020. THCa tested out to 19.70%. (Shoutout to Matt at 3C for making it happen!) This was gifted to me but goes for $35.50 at 3C’s DTLA location. Q is perhaps the most controversially named strain out of the entire conspiratorially themed lineup from 3C Farms, so I admit with that and it’s “Anonymous” lineage, I was extremely intrigued. These semi fluffy spiked out buds are a mix of moss and tea greens with hints of forest colored sugar leaves, gangly copper reddish brown pistils, and a very healthy coating of well preserved frosty white triches.

The nose out of the jar is a strong sweet must with a distant lemon edge. On busting open a nug, that must morphs into a sweet fuel with a slightly stronger, yet still light lemon quality that is very reminiscent of a solid OG. Breaking it down by hand, my fingers smell of mint and pine and have a bit of a stick to them, while the grinds themselves are a sugar sweet yet muted lemonade with both mint and pine kicking around in the background. The dry pull on the jay is a sugar sweet floral with a “fresh” twist from the mint-pine. The inhale is smooth, and I get a chalk sweetness similar to a muted necco wafer on the joint, where the bong is more of a musty sweet floral. The exhale is a sugar sweet floral with a light dough quality on the joint, whereas the bong is more of that chalky sweetness, but it’s not too strong. Cross checking the flavor on MV1 at 170c I get a very light mint floral with lemon whereas at 185c it’s a very vague light sweet floral. The initial headchange comes on quick and is misleadingly gentle as it’s a definite creeper that puts you in a brutal sleeperhold. Multiple times, at various points in the day, this strain managed to absolutely knock me out. I’d be enjoying the mild high when suddenly, I’d feel this massive weight on my body and I wanted to do nothing more but lie down. I wasn’t even tired mentally but within minutes of kicking back I’d be knocked out. Even on a wake and bake, within a half hour, I was back in bed and back to sleep for a morning nap. I’ve always said that THC percentages might mean something, but they don’t mean everything, and this a prime example of a sub 20% herb that delivers a straight knock out. If you are looking for something to pick you up lightly and then slam you into the mattress for the rest of the night look no further than Q. While not the most flavorful experience, if I was having trouble sleeping consistently then I could definitely see myself grabbing some more in order to help me obliterate my insomnia, especially for the mere $35 it goes for in their DTLA shop. Great work once again 3C!

Wonka Bars from Union Electric

Wonka Bars from Wave Rider Nursery via Union Electric on 7/26/2020. THC tested out to 22.56%. This was gifted to me but normally goes for $175 an ounce however right now it’s on special for $50. $50 zips are basically unheard of right now at the consumer level so that’s pretty amazing if you ask me. A few people have told me I need to start evaluating more affordable options, so when Max from Union Electric asked if I’d be interested in checking out their greenhouse flower, I figured it was a perfect opportunity and jumped right in. These buds are mostly a dusty forest green that dips into chartreuse and lime, coupled with tightly coiled veins of copper red pistils, and a decent coating of egg cream colored triches.

The nose out of the bag is a mix of fresh plant and earth up top, but once that settles in I catch a musty spice, and a hint of sugar sweetness on the backside. On busting open a bud, a candy sweetness emerges with a bit of a fresh characteristic, but is still mostly dominated by the smell of greens. Breaking the bud down by hand you really get a feeling for the extreme density, my fingers have that musty spice smell, and the grinds themselves are an herbaceous pine with a touch of mint and a hint of sugar. A dry pull on the joint reveals a muted sugar sweetness with an earthy floral back end. The inhale is fairly smooth, and has a minor sugar sweetness on the joint, where the bong is more of a muted fresh floral. The exhale on the joint is a sugar sweet floral with a light earthy dough, whereas on the bong, I get more of a semi-sweet cream. Cross checking the flavor on my MV1 from @ghostvapesofficial , at 170c I get light a floral mint, where at 185c it’s more of a muted sugar sweet floral. The headchange comes on quick and has a moderately healthy slap to it that frankly caught me off guard on the first joint. It puts a good amount of pressure behind the eyes and on the shoulders that feels like it could pin you down at first, but as soon as you get up to move, you realize how much energy you actually have. I’d sit down at my computer to dive into some work, and before I knew it, I’d be on my feet handling some chore I’d neglected earlier in the day. Not the best companion if you need to be able to sit still and concentrate but it’s perfect for those days when you’ve got a lot of inane physical tasks on your to-do list. I really enjoyed this batch of Wonka Bars. While it’s not the most tasty terp filled experience, for what it’s worth, I’ll take function over form any day. That said, it’s a pretty fantastic generic any-time smoke and I started leaning on it as my daily driver. For the ticket it’s going for right now it’s an absolute steal and I’m thinking about grabbing another zip if I can before the month is over. If you’re looking for some pretty dang good greenhouse on the cheap and you’re in Union Electric’s delivery area I think you’ll want to get in on it too. Thanks again to Max, Union Electric and Wave Rider Nursery, keep up the great work!

Super Glue from Harborside Farms

Super Glue from Harborside Farms via Harborside Desert Hot Springs on 6/19/2020. THC tested out to 25.5%. I don’t 100% remember what I paid for this but I know it was at least upwards of $55 after tax so I’m reviewing it at that price point. River bound, I found myself cruising through the Coachella Valley and wanted to hit the most convenient shop, so when I saw that Harborside was right off the 10 freeway and had a drive through, it sealed the deal. Admittedly, it was a bit strange to look at weed in a jar a few feet away from my car through a thick paned window, but after a few questions and a bit of squinting I ended up going with the budtenders recommendation of Super Glue. These buds are mostly an olive green that dips into shades of forest and chartreuse at times, coupled with nearly unnoticeable pale reddish brown pistils that seem to almost be purposely hiding from view, and a formidable coating of triches that range from snow white to yellowed goldenrod.

The nose out of the jar is a musty floral spice with a faint touch of mint on the back end. Busting open a bud that spice gets louder and takes on a very muted American Yellow mustard like quality. Breaking it down by hand, my fingers have a must with muted cream scent where the grinds themselves give off more of a mild peppery must but it’s not as strong as I’d expect. The dry pull is hard to pin down, it’s a really muted sugar sweet with some sort of paper or wood pulp back end, and just a touch of floral. The inhale is smooth and has a muted pancake syrup quality on the joint where the bong is more a mild sugar sweet with a bit of dough underneath. The exhale off the bong is a light musty floral with a slightly creamy dough, whereas the joint is a generic floral with a muddle freshness that I think leans more piney, but it’s hard to tell. Cross checking the flavors on my MV1 from @ghostvapesofficial, at 170c I get a floral taste with a touch of piney fresh, whereas at 185c it strangely has pretty much no taste at all, with a very muted skunky beer aftertaste. The headchange comes on quick and is fairly heavy. It doesn’t couchlock you up but it does put pressure on you in a way where you’ll feel weighed down and slow to move in every sense. My brain was capable of focusing, and while I wasn’t spacing out at all, it felt like the assembly of my thoughts were impeded in some way and it was a struggle to remain coherent. After the initial effect faded I found myself with a mild buzz and feeling rather tired to the point I needed some coffee to stay motivated and finish out my day. All and all, I thought my experience with this batch was just “okay”, and not really noteworthy. I believe that may be partly to due with the age of the sample as it was packaged way back on 2/3, and while I did sit on it myself for a couple months, it was already in the jar for over four months by the time I got it. While the flower itself looks pretty decent, for the near $60 price point and the experience, I don’t think I’d cop it again. From what I understand, Harborside is a veteran in the California Cannabis scene so I’d love to get my hands on a much more recent batch of something from their library, but this one just didn’t do it for me.

Clockwork Elves (indica variant) from 3c Farms

Clockwork Elves (indica variant) from 3c Farms on 7/14/2020. THCa tested out to 35.64%. (Shoutout to @3cfarms_matt for making it happen!) This was gifted to me but goes for $60 out the door in 3C’s DTLA shop. I absolutely loved the sativa variant of Clockwork Elves so I was super stoked to see the indica variant in my sample pack this time around. These dark yellow lemon shaped nuggets are absolutely caked in a thick blanket of golden kief. As you bust one open it would be advised to do so over a rolling tray as miniature avalanches of kief come rolling down the sides dusting out everything below it. After it’s been cracked in half you can tell the herb used is of a high caliber as the triches glisten to the core reminding me of the way a geode looks after being sawed apart.

The nose out of the jar is a savory must with a deep semi sugar sweet backend. On breaking open a bud, that savory spice amps up, as well as having an herbaceous quality with a mint twist. It was a bit hard to get a good sniff to be honest, as kief went flying right up my nose on first attempt, so I had to be gentle with my inhales as opposed to my normal deep whiffs. The grinds have that herbaceous floral sweetness in spades, again, with just a hint of mint. The dry pull on the joint is a light floral mint with a muted sugar sweet backing. The inhale is smooth and on the bong, I get a 1-2 punch of fresh mint and a musty lemon-ish zing, whereas the joint is more of a straight cool toasted mint. The exhale off the bong is a sweet musty fruit with a touch of mint on the backside where the joint is a muted floral mint coupled with a very faint fruit filling out the background. Cross checking the flavor on my MV1 from Ghost Vapes at 170c, I get a cooling sensation on the way in and a strong mint pine with heavy pinesol like aftertaste. At 185c it’s heavy floral with a light mint and a skunky beer aftertaste, and at 200c, it’s an even thicker floral with a perfume taste that lingers on the tongue for a minute afterward. The headchange comes on quick and smacks your brain with a heavy haymaker that connects with the utmost solid contact. If this buzz made a sound it would be a skull cracking thud, the kind that will leave you dazed and shaking your head in order to avoid losing consciousness. Within a minute I was absolutely plastered to the couch, feeling that pressure from my forehead down in my shoulders and spine, was sapped of any want to do anything outside of stare at the TV and eventually drift off to sleep. I really love Clockwork Elves, the fact that it’s just fresh nug rolled in kief without the aid of oil is a welcome change up in the world of powered up herb, especially because the category is usually dominated by tarred up trash weed dusted with green grated plant matter. Also, a cool bonus is that there’s so much kief left in the jar, you can throw other nugs in there and they will dust up with the leftovers. If you haven’t tried Clockwork Elves yet, I highly recommend it if you can find it at a ticket you’re comfortable with, and if you’re in range of one of 3C’s shops you definitely swing through. It’s not something I could see myself smoking daily but sometimes you just want to get tossed into space and knock out and it’s perfect for those occasions. Great job once again 3C, keep up the fantastic work!

LA Honor from LA Kush

LA Honor from Los Angeles Kush via Show Grow on 7/25/2020 (shoutout to @dude_doing_things for the swoop). THC tested out to 29.84%. Purchased for $40 but normally goes for $48 plus tax. I had heard some good things about LA Honor from some followers so when the opportunity to cop some popped up I decided to jump right in. These spear shaped buds are mostly chartreuse and lime with occasional veins of forest green, flares of pale sherbet orange pisitis, and an abundance of egg cream colored triches giving them an overall hazy yellowed look.

The nose out of the jar is a sweet and savory smell with an air of vinegar that reminds me of mustard and relish. Breaking open a nug, that sweet smell amps up a bit, and it really comes across smelling very similar to sweet pickles. Grinding it down by hand, I get a mild musty cream on the fingers, while the grinds themselves have a really vague sweetness with a touch of that vinegar quality on the back end. The dry pull on the j is sweet and chalky like a necco wafer with a faint mint in the background. The inhale is smooth and has a minor sugar sweet quality with a bit of a savory aspect on the joint, where the bong is more of a muted acrid sweet tang, with a back end that hits me like smoked meat. The exhale on the joint is minor sweet freshness with a musty dough undertone, where the bong is nearly the same, just less defined and more muddled. It’s honestly not too flavorful and sort of hard to pin down. Cross checking the flavor on my MV1 from @ghostvapesofficial at 170c I get a slight cooling sensation on the way in and a very floral yet piney exhale, whereas at 185c, it’s less defined and is just a vague floral with a hint of mint. The headchange comes on quick and with a very healthy slap. It has a headband effect that seems to spread to your whole face and feels as if your brain is engaged in a “full body stretch”. As I sat outside in the extreme heat, I had a variety of dumb thoughts that I felt were hilarious in the moment (i.e. “If trees knew we had A/C they’d for sure try to bust in our houses right now”), and was pretty much self entertained as I stared off at the horizon. I’d say this is a great strain for a lazy Sunday, I’m not so weighed down that I’m stuck to the couch, and there’s a feel good energy that helps me happily pass the time as I play the new Tony Hawk remake or get caught up on Cobra Kai. While not the most flavorful smoke, I really dug the effects, so I could see myself picking it up again if I can get it around the same price point. I’d even say $45-48 otd is more than fair. Great job on this one LA Kush, I didn’t like it quite as much as the Kushberry Cheesecake, but it was definitely some solid smoke and enjoyable experience.

Purple Cookies from Catalyst Cannabis

Purple Cookies from Catalyst Cannabis via Catalyst Santa Ana on 7/24/2020. THC tested out to 13.5%. Purchased for $5 but normally goes for $20. When Connected changed their name to Catalyst in Southern California, they had a variety of promotions, one of which was this batch of Purple Cookies at a killer ticket. Given the rate, I knew it wouldn’t be pretty, but I had to dive in and find out what this bag was all about. These larfy buds are mostly a hunter green, but there are random bits that go ghost white at points, and I even managed to find a singular spot of purple. There’s a variety of random pistils that range in color from pumpkin orange to dark cardboard brown and a surprising amount of goldenrod triches sprinkled about the scraggly surface area.

The nose out of the bag is wet cut grass with a savory twist, and after sniffing around in the spice cabinet, I’d say it’s closest to a faint cumin. Breaking open one of the only solid nugs I could find I was greeted with a surprising muted sweetness with that wet grass still filling out the background. Grinding it down by hand, I got a musty floral on my fingers while the grinds smelled like grass and bandaids, which I know sounds weird but if you smelled it you would get it. It also has a touch of sugar sweetness. When dry pulling the jay I get some muted cumin and bay leaf with a strange paper like quality. The inhale is just a little harsh and is mostly nondescript on the joint, but on the bong, it has a floral taste that reminds me of that incense they use in catholic church during special masses. The exhale has a weird herbaceous taste on the joint, it’s sort of floral, but has an aftertaste that’s a weak vague version of a clove cigarette. The bong has a light simple spice. Cross checking the flavor on my MV1 from @ghostvapesofficial at 170c it’s mostly floral with a hoppy lean and a bitter aftertaste, where at 185c, it’s basically the same but more faint. The headchange comes on quick and mild which is no doubt expected. I didn’t have any trouble staying focused while I felt just a touch of pressure in my forehead and a tad hazy eyed. There was a point where I felt like I was approaching headache territory, similar to the way that I used to feel after smoking old school schwag, the kind of headache that would make you question if you even like to get high at all and if it was really worth it. Luckily, just as quickly as that feeling came on, it dissipated and I was left with a mild buzz that helped me ride out the rest of the day. I appreciate the bargain ticket, and honestly, this would have been a god sent back in the days when I was check to check and had pretty much nothing but change to spend on herb. That said at the rate it normally goes for, it’s not really a bargain, and I definitely would not cop it again. Different strokes for different folks though and if you’re happy with what you see and what you’ve read, and find it for a ticket you’re comfortable with then more power to you, it’s just not for me.

Xeno from Alien Labs

Xeno from Alien Labs via Catalyst Belmont Shore on 7/25/2020. THC tested out to 30.95%. Purchased for $80 out the door. I happened to catch part of a live stream where @returnofthealien said that Xeno was the best thing smoking and he’d put it up against anything currently on the rec market, which is definitely a bold claim, so I got my hands on some in order to test it’s might. These beautiful christmas tree nugs are mostly a tea green with hunter green accents, shaggy pops of cinnamon orange pistils, and throngs of yellowing triches that are at points so thick it’s as if someone took a tiny trich trowel and smoothed over every crevice with it. Truth be told it’s a bit hard to pin down the coloring due to the swarms of triches completely obscuring a majority of the surface.

The nose out of the jar is a strong candy fruit sweetness, coupled with a deep musty funk and a hint of mint, all wrapped up in this thin candle wax smelling package. Busting open a bud there’s this burst of sweet fruit that nearly overwhelms all other scents but leaves just a bit of room for a creamy backend. Breaking it down by hand you really get a sense for its density, as well as the scent of sweet pine left on your finger tips, where the grinds themselves have a chalked out fruity candy sweetness that brings to mind the smell of warm Skittles and necco wafers while still maintaining that sugary cream in the background. The dry pull on the jay had a sugar sweet candy fruit quality that hit me like a mango hi-chew with a distant musty floral undertone. The inhale was smooth, and had a very unique fruit profile that came off like an overripe pear on the joint, whereas the bong was more of a sugar sweetness with a mint lean. The exhale on the joint is all over the place. It’s a combo of floral and sugar sweet with a chalky twist and a savory chaser that reminded me of the meat in a clam chowder. The exhale on the bong really brings out that sweet cream aspect with a bit of powdered sugar and another savory element that’s like a smokey ghost version of a cheeseburger patty. Cross checking the flavors on my MV1 from @ghostvapesofficial at 170c, I get a slight cooling sensation on the way in, as well as the taste of sweet minty pine that lingers on the tongue for a long while afterward. At 185c, that cooling sensation seems to get even stronger, while the flavor profile shifts to a sugar sweet floral with a piney back end. The headchange comes on quick with a little bit of energy and a nice spacey smack. It’s hard to keep focused, my mind is annoyed with the constraints of the task at hand, and it takes a considerable amount of will to keep productive. Every tiny distraction is an opportunity to take a trip down space cadet lane into a mini escape from your current responsibility. The first time I smoked it, I described it to a group chat as feeling like someone had cast “confusion” on me. My thoughts were all over the place, I couldn’t manage to focus for more than a few seconds before my brain jumped to a seemingly random port of thought deep in the recesses of my mind, so far from where I was and what I was just doing. After the initial thwap faded it became easier to stay on task, while I noticed a weight settled into my shoulders and the occasional ASMR like tingle ran up the back of my neck, while some feel good energy remained and made it a less of a chore to finish out my to-do list. In short, it’s true, Xeno is pretty damn good. In fact, I’d say it’s great. Is it the best weed I’ve ever had on the rec market? No, but it’s definitely up there and frankly there’s no way to answer that without being wholly subjective. Would I cop it again? Yeah, I would depending on the price I could find it at, but I’m not sure I’d grab it again for $80. $80 is lot, and while I believe Catalyst stores now have top tier Alien Labs at $70, I’ve seen it on menus for $100 and that’s pretty nuts. No 8th is worth $100 to me, at least not one I’ve come cross, but that is a very personal decision. I can’t speak for your wallet. This stuff is definitely top notch herb so if you’re ok paying $500 an 8th for that, who am I to stop you? Personally I’d rather grab some Malverde if we are talking straight bang for the buck. I’d put it up against Xeno and it’s half the ticket. That said, Xeno is extremely unique in its flavor and effects and I’d definitely encourage you to pick it up if you can find it at a ticket you feel comfortable with, but it’s not a ‘must have’ to the point you should break the bank over it. That’s if you can even find it really, as it was very short lived in the menus in this area, and I haven’t seen it make a comeback since. Great work on this one Alien Labs, it’s replaced Alien Mints as a personal favorite, and I’ll definitely savor the rest of the jar.

Tropicana Cookies 17 from Medcare Farms

Tropicana Cookies 17 from Medcare Farms on 5/23/2020 (shout out to Garin for making it happen!). THC tested out to 16.75% THC. This was gifted to me but the menu price noted on the jar is $61.50. Out of the 4 strains provided in my sample pack, this was the only one to be labeled “Limited Reserve” , so my curiosity was definitely piqued about its contents. These buds are mostly a mix of midnight blue and deep purple with forest and tea green accents, pops of amber pistils, and a median amount of yellowing cream colored triches.

The nose out of the jar is a musty floral with a spice backing, reminding me of the way my grandma’s spice cabinet would smell, a combination of natural scents from herbs to wood all marinated through with age and darkness. Breaking open a bud there’s a faint sweetness that emerges with an earthy floral and light minty pine. Grinding it down by hand that musty floral spice makes a comeback but has a cinnamon/nutmeg lean. The dry pull on the joint had a very light sweet floral taste with just a hint of dough. The inhale was smooth and on the bong had a light toasted floral with a hint of sweetness where the joint was fairly nondescript. The exhale off the bong has a musty sweet cream quality where the joint was a light floral with a hint of mint and a very distant notion of citrus but it was so vague that it was hard to pin down. Cross checking the flavor on my MV1 from @ghostvapesofficial at 170c, I get a slight cooling sensation on the way in while the taste itself was a light pine and floral where at 185c, it really pulls back and becomes a very muted floral. The headchange comes on quick but is fairly mild mannered. I’m able to think clearly but there is this slightly paranoid edge that creeps in and puts a little crack in my perceived self-efficacy even when I’m confident about the task at hand. It puts a slight weight in the shoulders and gives you a bit of a bobble headed feeling but doesn’t weigh you down too much. Truth be told, the effect overall was just kind of a’ight, but it wasn’t something I’d say was notable nor beared repeating. It could be relegated to this one batch, but going off my experience with it, I most likely would not cop this one again. Sorry Medcare Farms, some folks out there may have liked it, but this one just wasn’t for me.

Paris OG from Cru

Paris OG from Cru via Catalyst Santa Ana on 7/20/2020. THC tested out to 25.16%. Purchased for $39 out the door. About a month ago there was some hubbub on The Blacklistxyz about Cru so I decided to swoop this Paris OG from Catalyst Santa Ana to see how it held up. These small shrub-like buds are mostly a mix of chartreuse and olive green with remnants of basil sugar leafs, sporadic bunches of ginger orange pistils, and a decent coating of egg cream colored triches.

The nose out of the bag is a sugar and fruity sweet that reminds me of a light strawberry hard candy with a touch of mint and some distant fuel. Busting open a bud, the fruity sweetness takes a lemony turn, but it’s still generally fruity overall with a hint of some vicks vapor rub on the back end. Breaking it down by hand, my fingers smell of lemon sweet fuel, where the grinds are still generally fruity but have a lemon lean and a fresh edge. The dry pull on the joint has a muted sweet lemon and very light fuel quality that’s a little lackluster in comparison to the grinds. The inhale is smooth and has a muted sugary lemon on the joint, where the bong, it’s more of a minor sweet floral with a wisp of lemon. The exhale is a not too pronounced sweet floral with a bit of lemon on the joint but it’s hard to pin down, where the bong has that sweet floral up top, but a musty cream on the back side. Cross checking the flavor on my MV1 from @ghostvapesofficial at 170c it’s floral with fairly strong pine and mint as where at 185c it’s also floral with a pine backing but not as strong and less defined than at the lower temp. The headchange comes on quick enough and has a mild thwap that’s fairly middle of the road. It gives you a slightly floaty headed feeling while also putting some minor pressure on your neck and shoulders. It’s definitely a motivation sapper and made getting through any tasks at a hand an absolute slog. I had this sort of “meh” feeling whenever I smoked it and really didn’t feel like doing much outside of sitting on the couch and staring blankly into space. While this wasn’t a crappy batch of Paris OG, it was just kind of alright, and frankly there was nothing about it that I can say I particularly enjoyed. The experience was rather ho hum overall, for a little over $40, I’d much rather go with something else from another brand (like THC Design, Ball Family, or Green Dragon) in near the same range that I know smacks. Sorry Cru, it wasn’t bad, but it just wasn’t for me.
