So when Cali hit me up saying he wanted me to try his edible company that makes mac and cheese, I thought dang what a great idea! I was stoked to get to try it. The package needs to needs to be refrigerated until used, but I and @westcoastweedreviews can both vouch it stays good easily for a couple weeks. There are easy-to-understand directions on the underside of the lid and mine baked up fairly quickly in the oven. Overall it was very easy to make. When the bowl came out of the oven, it had a gorgeous cheese crust that ended up with a perfect cook. Under the crust were large, perfectly cooked noodles, nice size chunks of bacon, and what seemed to be a combination of cheese sauce and melted cheese bits.
I had the bacon version this round, but there are multiple options for ingredients, including lobster! When eating this, you would never guess it’s medicated. It tasted delicious, and was honestly one of the best mac and cheese dishes I’ve ever had. It was very rich and really was a whole dinner portion, or enough to share between a few lighter eaters. Given the portion size and richness, my only complaint is in regard to the strength — I think there needs to be a 500 mg option, or possibly a 1000mg option (especially if planning to share). At 200 mg, I felt a slight relaxation and slightly heavy eyes that lasted me a good couple hours. Overall, this was a delicious, gourmet-quality edible that I would love to enjoy again, especially with options for increased strength next time. Edit… found out 500mg and 1000mg available in single serve and up to 2000mg in catering platters.
Pure and Proper is one of the craft cannabis brands that I automatically link to quality and potency when ever I hear it mentioned. So naturally as I’ve seen Runthol around on my Ig stories, my interest was peaked. With that being said, I really appreciate @b_easy and @gulfcoast for helping make this review happen. The flower really looks on-point, with a nice combination of olive green and purples so dark some almost look black, for a nice eye-catching contrast. There is a nice coating of trichomes that look so heavy that it has a nice silver shimmer. The trim job was pretty much perfect, and it had a really nice cure and structure that was easy to work with.
When smelling, I noticed a gas profile that turns to a menthol tingle in the nose with a deep inhale, which I really enjoy, and expected would translate when smoked. The terps were complex with this one. I picked up on a sweet, creamy gas and a slightly minty gas, that combine for an almost spiced gum drop smell. That happens to be one of my favorite candies, so I really enjoyed smelling this. When smoking, you taste more of the herbal component of the aroma and not much of the candy. There was a little bit of black licorice, and a little eucalyptus, with earthy/musty mint notes. Possibly a bit of a sweet finish, but slight and inconsistent. It’s still very enjoyable and burns super clean. Also, this has that nice lung expanding feeling I typically associate with a strong gas-profiled strain. The high was surprisingly strong, something I don’t typically associate with Runtz, so guessing that’s the Menthol influence (but not familiar with that strain so it’s just a guess). I felt it come on heavy behind my eyes, and a nice whole-body feeling of relaxation. I found it was fairly effective at easing pain and relaxing my stress. Soon I found myself just stuck going down rabbit holes on my phone, and a hour had quickly gone by. There aren’t a whole lot of cannabis strains that make me lose track of time and myself that way, and it’s such an enjoyable relaxing time (as long as it’s planned for, haha). So initially I was disappointed with this one, because with the crosses I was expecting a different flavor profile and it took me a little bit to get over that bias. But being past that, I can say this overall is a very flavorful, clean-smoking strain, that is highly effective at medicating me. I kept going back to stick my face in the jar and revisit the smell because I enjoyed it so much. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what flavors pop next from Pure and Proper, and I will be watching and waiting to scoop some.
Hawaiian Cookies from Farmer and the Felon via CannaCraft direct on 4/16/2021. THC tested out to 20.58% THC (thanks to Jim Walsh for making it happen!). This was gifted to me but should be sub 30$ before tax. It’s been about a year since I last reviewed some Platinum OG smalls from Farmer and the Felon, so when I saw this jar in my Cannacraft 420 Giftbox, I stoked on the chance to check out another batch from this mission oriented budget brand.
The surface of these bitsy spongy buds are a mix of pine, juniper and chartreuse with occasional hints of aubergine, sporadic pops of rusty copper pistils, and a fairly thick coating of butterscotch colored bird spike triches.
The nose out of the jar is a sweet and sour fresh must with a rubber edge that hits me almost like a faint minty rubber cement. Busting open a bud the scent morphs into a sugar sweet mint pine with just a touch of that rubber cement quality kicking around in the background. Breaking it down by hand my fingers are left with a semi sweet mustiness on them, whereas the grinds themselves had a bit of a tamped down sweetness with a fuzzy chocolate leaning must behind it and a touch of mint pine freshness rounding it out, but overall it seemed less pungent when ground.
The dry pull on the joint comes with a sweet fresh floral and a bit of lingering mint. The inhale is smooth and on the joint has a musty sweet perfume floral with a hint of freshness whereas the bong is more nondescript and comes with a vague light floral. On the exhale I get a sugar sweet floral with a touch of a sour musty undertone, as where the bong is a bit more vague and was a little hard to pin down, but essentially hits me with a shifty musty cream. Cross checking the flavors on my GhostVapes MV1, at 170c I get a a minty cool sensation on the way in and on the way out it morphs in to a minority sweet chalky floral whereas at 185c its a light sweet floral.
The headchange comes on quick and has a surprising thwap. It had me wrapped up cognitively as I occasionally stumbled on my words, and there was a complimentary element of paranoia that made me wonder if people knew I was high, which isn’t a thought I typically have when stoned and in public. While on my own I found myself spacing out regularly, I’d come up with an idea and began to approach it with determination when all of the sudden I’d find myself just staring at the floor for an unknown (albeit small) amount of time, completely lost in thought until I snapped to with an “oh yeah that’s, what I was doing” moment. Those moments came frequently as my mind jumped from topic to topic with uncontrollable zeal, clearing all short term memory cache in the process. I bounced back and forth between tasks and got caught up on my phone in between. Physically I felt a haze across my eyes, a gentle hand’s worth of weight on both shoulders, and a general rubberiness in my limbs.
All and all, this batch may not be comprised of the prettiest buds, it’s not the best smelling herb around, but it’s got a really solid slap that threw me for a loop that I’d say is on par with some higher end batches I’ve had in the past. If you’re a bargain hunter that isn’t stuck on indoor, and you can find it at a rate you’re comfortable with, I’d say you really can’t go wrong with these Hawaiian Cookies. A nice smack at an affordable ticket with the added benefit of helping a good cause (@lastprisonerproject). Great job on this one Farmer and The Felon!
Well, I fell for the “don’t miss this absolute fire” post put out by Jungle Boys and scooped Sugar Cake. The bag appeal on this one was crazy. So much so that I couldn’t really get a picture I liked of it. It was almost like the shimmer of the frost was fucking up the color settings or something, very weird…. but, I don’t know jack about photography as probably can be seen by my inconsistent results. The buds were all kinds of green with arrays of orange pistils, mostly at the tops. They were heavily coated in resin, so much so that the flowers actually came out looking odd.
When smelling you get a sweet and skunky, earthy smell. Not really a very exciting aroma, kind of reminded me of Jungle Cake terps but not as good, and nothing discernible from the Divorce Cake. When smoking it came across as earthy skunk or basic weed taste, and there was nothing wrong with how it burned. The high with this was solid and definitely did what it needed to do — relaxed me and elevated my mood. Overall, this strain was very boring and not at all what I was expecting. Nothing Exoticz about this one.
Pretty stoked to have the opportunity to review this one, as I know it’s a pretty limited release and a very expensive one! The flower is a pretty even shade of green all the way through, with some very faint orange pistils sprung out in a way that reminds me of some kind of sea urchin. I noted lots of great trichome coverage on this. The structure and appearance really have the “well grown cannabis” look to me. There was more sugar leaf left after the trim than my preference, but wasn’t horrible. With that said, when you get to these price points, you really want to be picky.
The aroma was enjoyable in a way that makes you want to go back to the jar over and over again, to revisit the delicious smell — a tropical fruit mixture, not over-ripe or rotten like the guavas or papayas, but fresh, with mostly citrus fruit notes and some exotic twist. There’s also this minty gas, like a nice sweet menthol, that gives this some artificial candy smell, so I can comfortably say this is one of those strains that smells like it’s named. When smoking, it does do a decent job of maintaining its taste. It’s not super strong, punch-you-in-the-face — it’s more the “terps under the smoke” type vibe. This smokes and burns really clean and damn near perfect, although I did receive it a slight bit wetter than my preference. Normally I’m cool with all that, but again, at this price point I’m being super picky. The other thing is, you taste the extra sugar leaf and it really adds un-enjoyable bitterness. Not overwhelming, but definitely there. I properly trimmed a nug and smoked the sugar leaf on its own, and then the bud on its own. First, no question that’s where the bitterness is coming from, and second, the sugar leaf by itself had quite a strong head change (and it was a clean enjoyable one) so I could see the argument for the trim based on that. The high on this one was pretty strong. It comes on reasonable at a good comfortable head change, that slowly transitions into a pretty strong euphoric high. This one really got my mind rushing and had me feeling a sort of buzzy head pressure (not uncomfortable but there). It eventually mellows into a fairly active high that, for me, made tackling some much-needed and physically-demanding yard work quite doable. For sure much more enjoyable of a job than it typically would be. Overall this is some very well grown weed, that you could argue needs a slightly better trim job. Not overwhelming in flavor, but solid. For me, an experienced smoker, it delivered a substantial and enjoyable high. It boasts some cool and really unique genetics that you can’t really get anywhere else. Plus there’s that little bit of pride from scoring elusive flowers that not everyone gets to smoke. If those boxes checked make it worth the ticket, I’d say grab it. Otherwise, you can find some flowers here and there that I would say smoke at similar quality, and often times with punchier terps, at a more reasonable ticket.
French Laundry from Kingston Royal via Eaze on 4/23/2021 (shout out to Jake at Eaze for making it happen!). THC tested out to 32.99%. This was gifted to me but goes for $65 pre-tax on Eaze. When Jake from Eaze hit me up and asked if there were any brands they had on deck I was interested in, I jumped on the site and Kingston Royal caught my eye (admittedly mostly on the ticket and a somewhat fancy looking jar), and since I’d never heard of the brand previously I was definitely on board to check them out.
These slightly trident-esque buds are a mix of fern and forest greens contrasted against eggplant and byzantine purples, paired with tightly coiled veins of rusty bronze pistils, all of which are flocked in thick coat of goldenrod and crystal clear triches.
The nose out of the jar is a sweet must with a faint grape lingering in the background. Busting open a bud, the grape brightens up and brings a sugar sweet quality into the mix as well, relegating that mustiness to the backend along with an echo of freshness. Breaking it down by hand, the grinds have a deep sweet candy like grape that reminds me of some old school Big League Chew, while on my fingers lingers notes of a more subdued grape with a much more pronounced must.
Taking a dry pull on the joint I get an extremely muted grape candy with a fresh edge. The inhale was smooth initially but got a little harsh about a quarter of the way through the joint, and although it started with some decent bubblebum grape flavor, it quickly lost steam and reverted to a plain nondescript smoke. The inhale on the bong was also very nondescript and could be characterized as a light sweet floral at best. The exhale on the joint was a smokey floral with a very very distant chalky grape, whereas the bong had just a touch of sweet floral grape, but it too was fairly faint. Cross checking the flavors on my GhostVapes MV1, at 170c there was an extremely faint mint and floral with a muted skunky beer aftertaste, whereas at 185c there was a mild sweet floral but again very muted and almost indetectable.
The headchange comes on quickly and in a way that is best described with the use of the word “serviceable”. It works but it’s not particularly remarkable in any sort of way. I feel hazy headed and stoned but for some reason I was also constantly underwhelmed by the effects of this batch. Mentally I was present and had no issues focusing, and while it did help manage to quell some anxieties, there was just something flat and lackluster about the buzz. Physically there was a slight pressure on my body, an extra bit of weight in my shoulders, that over time managed to amplify to the point of eventual couchlock. If anything, the persistent quality that seemed most evident in regard to this batch was its ability to put me to sleep about an hour or so after smoking it. It’s such a strange state to be in, not exactly ripped, but just extremely sedated to the point I just couldn’t manage to keep my eyes open.
All and all, while this batch looked great, it absolutely lost me on taste, smoke and effect. I can’t say I’d be excited to repeat the experience regardless of the ticket, and while some extremely sedative non-psychoactive smoke may be right up some folks alley, it’s not something I personally enjoy. Sorry Kingston Royal, this one just wasn’t it for me.
So there’s a lot of Gelato in here, and if it hadn’t been for a buddy saying he really enjoyed it, I probably wouldn’t have scooped it. The flowers were pretty striking, with lots of purples and just enough green and orange to give it some contrasting looks that really appeal to the eye. Nugs had good shape, nice structure and cure, and were really easy to work with.
When smelling this flower, you get a nice gassy sweetness that definitely reminds me of Gelato — but there’s this almost-artificial candy terp there too, that makes it sweeter and more enjoyable than a typical Gelato. When smoking, you really taste the sweet gas of the Gelato, with some extra earthy and sweet notes I don’t typically think I’d taste with a Gelato. Although the taste didn’t blow me away, it was still quite solid and enjoyable. With this flower the notable thing was the head change — came on quick and strong. Not too long before I felt like my extremities weighed twice as much and was feeling clumsy walking around the room. I have to say, it was an outstanding high that lasted a good amount of time. Definitely had me couch locked once too. Overall, not the most unique terps and not really up my alley taste-wise, but I would definitely grab this one again just for the high.
Ok so was super stoked to contacted by Beazy himself and that he enjoyed my reviews and was interested in having his flowers reviewed. It’s a bit of a nerve racking experience when you meet these people before reviewing their product because I’m very aware of the work and risk involved and plus they’re usually very nice people so I don’t want to disrespect that but also balancing that with not disrespecting the trust my followers give me. With that being said all these reviews will be honest and any criticism will be as constructive and respectful as possible. The appearance on these flowers was crazy so much so I posted to my story just to show them off. Dark purple flowers for the most part. Some bits of darker greens on possibly the inside of the plant where it might have stayed insulated and warmer than the rest of the environment and not turning purple. Great solid structure with a crazy amount of trichome coverage. When I say crazy I mean some of the most I’ve seen on any flowers I’ve had. It’s quite spectacular looking. The cure was perfect not wet but sticky easy to work with and break apart.
When smell the flower it’s a sweet and gassy lemon treeish smell that’s really in my wheelhouse of lemon terps. With the sweetness it also reminds me a bit of the lemonade terps I really enjoy just not as tangy. When smoking the taste really transfers over very well. I really couldn’t find anything thing missing from the flavors that I was smelling. The smoke and burn was clean and really burned just right. The terps also had a decent punch to them that left my coated in that sweet lemon terp. The high was a pretty medium high that was uplifting and relaxing. Definitely not a good smoke if you got a lot to do but will still allow you to be creative or enjoy some video games or funny tv. Overall I was really stoked on the quality of flowers and even I’d say pleasantly surprised by the all around solid offering here. I can give it a strong recommendation to the pickiest of smokers.
So I’m a pretty big fan of Wonderbrett they have some really strong unique flavors that come at a real reasonable price compared to flowers that are less consistent and more expensive. I kept hearing Grapes of Wrath was one of the best so was super stoked to do this review. The flower really was quite nice looking with a good variety of green colors and even little bits of purple in there too. A nice coating of trichomes that gives it the nice salted appearance.
Upon smelling I was really surprisingly underwhelmed by the smell and really only got a little bit of sweetness and dusty earthiness. This flower really had pretty near perfect structure of flower great shape good size. But when handling I noticed right away it was pretty dry. And I guessing that’s why the lack of smell. Now since I post my reviews a little slow there’s always some confusion on the packaging dates and when I smoked and handled this flower. So to make things clear this flower was packaged on 3/18/21. I first opened and smoked this flower on 4/28/21. I’ll admit that’s a little past my typical one month rule but still well within a range I feel should still have someMoisture. Definitely interested in your thoughts and experiences on this. When smoking not a lot of flavor came through mostly tasted like smoke and the earthiness I could smell. Maybe a little bit of sweetness too but very faint. The high was a sedative one that really made it easy to settle in and relax. I instantly felt my eyelids get heavy and an overall feeling of calm wash over me. I could also see it being very useful for sleep. Overall not the best representation of Wonderbrett or probably of this strain. If I can get a chance to get it fresh I’ll definitely try again. This is a good example of why those dates on the back matter. They just need to be more consistent so we really can have a threshold in place that works for us.
Yellow Zushi from The Ten Co on 3/19/2021 (Huge shout out to @roldbyg for making it happen). No testing info available on this batch. This was gifted to me and I’m not exactly sure what it would go for in a shop if you could find it. I imagine it’d be somewhere in the neighborhood of 50-60 pre-tax. It’s coming up on two years since I first reviewed a Ten Co strain (Blue Zushi) so when RoldbyG offered up this Yellow variant I was more than on board to check it out.
The surface of these bulbous buds are a mix of sage, hunter and fern greens with occasional specks of midnight blue, complimented by bursts of rusty orange pistils, all of which is hazed over in a coat of parchment white triches.
The nose out of the bag initially hit me with a wave of fruity candy, very much like Skittles, but also has a savory almost soy sauce-like quality lingering in the background. Busting open a bud the citrus really opens up and brings an acidity with it. It’s been a while since I’ve had one but it’s very reminiscent of a Pamplemousse LaCroix with the flavoring kicked up just a notch. Breaking it down by hand was challenging as it was fairly squishy in nug form, but dense on being deconstructed, and it did not want to break down as easily as most of the herb I typically come across. There’s a bright sugary citrus that lingers on the fingertips while the grinds themselves have that amped up Pamplemousse LaCroix scent with a distant mint pine freshness in the background.
A dry pull on the joint comes through with the grapefruit uptop but has a grungy edge and a fresh undertone that repped a little harder than it did in the grinds. The inhale is smooth, and on the joint has a subtle sweet freshness, whereas the bong had that sweetness as well but leaned more floral than fresh. The exhale from the joint is a sweet floral mustiness at first, but the Pomelo makes itself known although muted and has a touch of freshness underneath, whereas the bong is a lighter grapefruit with a fresh mint pine backing. Cross checking the flavors on my GhostVapes MV1, at 170c I get a sweet fresh floral with a hint of citrus and a pine that lingers momentarily, whereas at 185c I get a fresh sensation on the way in and on the way out it’s more of a light citrus floral.
The headchange comes on quick and brings with it an immediate calm. With a single bowl the anxieties of the week that existed mere moments earlier completely vanished, washed away by a wave of chill soothing energy, the type that makes you want to take a seat and just start contemplating life. I was impressed with its staying power as it managed to last through a walk to the store and back to grab a last minute veggie for dinner. As I cooked it felt like I was on some sort of autopilot, present enough to navigate through an easy dish, but my mind constantly wandered from one topic to the next without me being fully cognizant of the fact. It stayed with me for an hour or so even after dinner, and it wasn’t until then I was able to muster enough power for a follow up bowl. I decided to spend a full day with it, starting with a wake and bake, and by about 11:30am I was scarfing down an early lunch followed by a 3 hour nap. I woke up again only to smoke more, and found myself ordering dinner even though it was really early and I wasn’t all that hungry, but the munchies had taken hold and I was fiending for a Bionico so I pulled the trigger on Uber Eats with priority delivery.
All and all I really enjoyed this batch of Yellow Zushi, and while it may not win any bud beauty contests, the long lasting effects and fairly unique flavor make up for it in spades. I could definitely see myself copping this again if I found it at the right ticket. Great work once again Team Ten!
