I love Mimosa and I’ve really enjoyed the sweet and savory crosses of #gmo and fruity strains that have been popping up. This one is probably my favorite with the mimosa being the dominant flavor provider and the Gmo putting an amazing funky spin on it. Ends up tasting like a savory 50/50 bar and although that may not sound appealing once I tasted it I instantly loved it! The smell is crazy too with all the orange creme and crazy Gmo stink oh man! The melt is slightly darker in appearance than some of his others but still super clean with no sign of contamination and melted perfectly.
The high was a perfect high to chill out and play some music or socialize as it was very euphoric and uplifting and allowed me to play music creatively and without anxiety anticipation of timing. Definitely a strain I want more of and need to try the flowers of. As for the #therealcannabischris brand I will definitely be buying more of his terps they’re hands down some of my favorites out there right now.
Ice Cream Cake from Fresh Baked via The Circle in Long Beach on 12/10/2020 (big thanks to Fresh Baked and The Circle for making it happen!). THC tested out to 27.37%. I was gifted this jar but it typically goes for $50 at The Circle. Huge shoutout up top to Abstrax Labs for reasons that will become clear later in the review. When I saw that Fresh Baked was putting out a limited edition Ice Cream Cake right before Christmas I knew I had to get my hands on some, so when they reached out and asked if I wanted to give it a shot, I excitedly jumped at the chance. Two beautiful beefy buds comprise the entire jar. The surface is mostly a deep rich eggplant purple with occasional patches of kelly green, tightly coiled bursts of copper colored pistils, and an astonishing deluge of fully intact parchment white triches.
The nose out of the jar is a sweet vaporous must with a touch of pastry on the backside. It really jumps out at me, as soon as I pop open the jar it elicits a visceral gut reaction that signals to every part of my body that this is some GOOD shit. Busting open a bud, a sweet creamy sugar emerges coupled with a sweet pastry that pretty much obliterates the musty element that was present moments earlier. Breaking it down by hand, it leaves a smattering of triches on the fingers as well as a sweet musty cream with a slightly mint backing on the fingertips, while the grinds themselves come off like a gassy berry danish with a sweet cream finish. The dry pull on the joint hits with a sweet vaporous minty cream that left a york peppermint patty like freshness on my lip. The inhale is smooth and comes with a sweet creamy perfume like floral and a touch of mint on the bong, whereas on the joint, it’s more of a musty near eucalyptus like mint. The exhale is a delicious musty sweet cream with a mint twist on both the bong and the joint. Cross checking the flavors on my Ghost Vapes MV1, at 170c it comes with a very minty floral coupled with a strong piney tang, whereas at 185c it’s more of a straight piney floral with a skunky beer follow up. Enter the awesome folks at Abstrax Labs. Utilizing advanced chemical techniques far beyond my understanding, they’re able to take small samples of bud and run it through a process that reveals every terpene and aroma compound within it and make it into an easy to read data sheet, which I thought would be fun and informative to compare against my subjective experience with any given strain. While it may not align perfectly with my individual take on the strain, it is interesting to go over the data and see how it matches up with my experience, and maybe give me some better and broader understanding of flavors that are difficult to pin down.
The headchange comes on quick and with an extremely healthy smack. There’s an aura of feel good energy that immediately enveloped me, along with a broad hazy feeling that sat right on the top of my eyes, as an ASMR like tingle made its way across my skull and into the base of my neck. Mentally I feel a bit stunted, fumbling for the proper vocabulary in the moment, and getting a near uncomfortable amount of that “tip of the tongue” feeling depending on how much talking I’m having to do. In my notes I describe it as a sort of “drunk” high as I feel rosy cheeked, happily discombobulated, and am laughing my ass off at some incredibly dumb thoughts. I’d recommend avoiding activities that require extreme focus as you’ll not be able to pull it together after smoking this, but it’s perfectly suited for a small chatty gathering amongst a few friends, although you might find yourself running out of steam as time goes on and looking for a couch to kick back on and rest your eyes for a few minutes. All and all I really enjoyed this batch of Ice Cream Cake, and while I might avoid smoking it first thing in the morning, it makes a perfect complement to agendaless day where your only concern is getting lit and being happy. Fresh Baked continued to impress, they are definitely putting out some of the best weed on the recreational market, and if you haven’t tried anything from them yet you are truly missing out. Excellent job Fresh Baked, the level of care and expertise is evident in everything you produce, keep up the fantastic work!

Another special one from the man himself Cannabis Chris. On a seemingly run of the mill strain I began hearing rumors of some unique terps and quite the punch it packs. So as always his melt looks fantastic and flags up quite nicely. The smell on this sweet and fruity with a fresh doughnut smell lingering in there.

The taste was awesome as it basically tasted like a grape doughnut. And really shocked me because garanimals always came off as a blander wedding cake for me. Knowing it was crossed with grape pie this was always confusing. The high packs a nice euphoric punch that leaves you easily getting couch locked and losing track of time. My best advice is do not get sidetracked to the bed or the couch or whatever plans you had are gone. This is another prime example of why most of what I’m purchasing right now comes from this brand. The price is steep on this when you consider it’s a daily medicine averaging at about $90 a gram but when you consider it’s competitors in that market and their prices and quality this is priced more than fairly.
So of all the flavors I was able to get by Lionboldt Farms this one was my favorite. The flavor profile was all gas and was rough on your throat in that good this shit is fire way. With that burning rubber gas terps and slightly minty spice on the exhale. Still slightly bitter as the cure wasn’t 100% on this one either but I don’t want to obsess. The look of this flower was almost as intimidating as the rumors of the powerful high that comes along with it. A combo of dark purple almost black pedals and a nice forest green pedals. With sparatic orange hairs popping everywhere. Nice propperly dense nugs not overdone and well trimmed with a healthy amount of frost to get you excited to smoke.
The high on this was absolutely fantastic. Nothing unique or different just strong as fuck and smacks you in the face. This strain is the reason I would like to catch some other flavors at a different batch. The price on this $70 an 1/8 all the way up. For black market flowers where no taxes or licensing fees are being paid there’s a lot of profit in there so that’s why I am judging this brand to hard. At prices well over Doha’s Rs11 I expect that same quality or better. This one almost hit that mark.
Rippz from Seed Junky Genetics / Qanabliss via @calmawesthollywood on 10/20/2020. THC tested out to 21.8%. Huge shoutout to Calma for making it happen! I was gifted this bag by Calma but the price tag says it’s $52 pre-tax. Seed Junky Genetics is essentially a cannabis “household name” these days, so when I saw Calma threw a bag of Rippz in my sample pack, I was hella stoked to jump in and see how she smoked. The surface of these beat up buds are a mix of rich aubergine and lime with hints of a darker forest green, pops of sunrise orange pistils, and a healthy frosting of mostly headless snow white and egg cream colored triches.
The nose out of the bag is a delicious deep grungy fruit that comes off like Gelato, however it has a very strong freshness in play that demands attention. Busting open a bud, the sweet and fresh elements merge and take center stage, and while that fruitiness is still present the sheer force of the piney mint pushes it slightly into the wings. Breaking it down by hand, it leaves a little bit of stick on the fingers as well as a muted scent of Lifesavers and Winterfresh gum, while the grinds themselves have a deep rich fruitiness that fades quickly after being broken up, leaving a mix of natural and artificial smelling fruit candy that’s a bit hard to pin down. In my notes it says “if Blue Razz were a real fruit, this is how it might smell” and also “like a minty airhead” which just goes to show how the profile bounces all over the place. It’s all very pleasant smelling but also very muddled. A dry pull on the joint comes with a sugar sweet fruit and a touch of minty floral. The inhale is smooth, and on the bong has muted chalky floral sweetness, whereas the joint is rather nondescript. The exhale is musty chalky sweet on both the joint and the bong but it has a creamy characteristic on the latter. Surprisingly none of the fruity aspects from the scent came through in the smoke. Cross checking the flavors on my Ghost Vapes MV1 at 170c, I get a cooling effect on the way in and the exhale is full on pine, where at 185c it’s still extremely piney but a floral quality manages to make its way through the flavor canopy. The headchange comes on quick and has a hazy semi-lazy buzz. It’s very middle of the road in all regards. Mentally I get that sort of ho-hum meh vibe, I’m very present and don’t feel in any danger of spacing out or losing the thread, I’d almost say it was a sativa except for the dour mood it consistently brought with it. I smoked a few bowls back to back in hopes of chasing the effect I was looking for but it always fell short. Physically, it puts a slight weight on the body and over time you’ll feel a little tired, but that’s probably part and parcel with that mundane feeling it inspires. In my experience, these Rippz would probably compliment the mood of a rainy day, but I’m struggling to find a good use case for it otherwise. Overall, the scent had a lot of promise, but every other aspect of this batch was a let down. I don’t think I’d pick it up again at any ticket. Sorry Seed Junky/Qanabliss, I wanted to like it, but from presentation to smoke it just wasn’t for me.
So this one was a bit disappointing for me because I was really excited by the cross but was really let down by the flavor. The appearance is great but if anything a little boring as being a nice lime green with a little bit of orange hairs sprouting out here and there. But it does have a nice coating of frost to make up for the lack up contrasting colors that i normally love to see.
The smoke was clean and smooth and burned perfectly. The high was relatively strong and had a relaxing chill vibe to it. Definitely good late afternoon smoke for me as I want to wind down and relax. The taste and smell is where it really let me down. It was as if the 2 strains combined and muted each other out because it was very generic with none of the hints orange or fruit undertone from the Mai Thai or gassy earthiness of Jungle Cake. At $50 an eighth I’m ok with this miss but wouldn’t grab again unless I heard the next batch had a better terp profile and was much louder coming out of the bag.
Strawberry Lemonade from Cannabiotix via The Spot in Fountain Valley (RIP) on 10/22/2020 (Huge shoutout to Blake at The Spot for making it happen!). THC tested out to 27.96%. This was gifted to me by the Spot in Fountain Valley which has since closed. It also looks like they don’t have an CBX on the menu currently at their Santa Ana shop but I remember it being fairly pricey. Honestly I’d stick to Catalyst for CBX as it seems like they still have the cheapest tickets. Being a sativa head, and only having ran through CBX’s heavier strains so far, I was hella stoked to see that this Strawberry Lemonade was in a part of my sample pack from The Spot. The surface of these big light fluffy buds are a mix of forest, fern and pear greens, with bunches of gangly light brown sugar colored pistils shooting across the budscape looking like hastily hung streamers in prep for a surprise birthday party, all frosted over by a multitude of hooked and spiky egg cream colored triches.
The nose out the jar is a subtle must, accompanied by a fruity sweetness that strikes me with a strawberry banana vibe, or even something akin to that of an overripe melon. Busting open a bud that fruity sweetness really kicks it up a notch, it hits sort of like a Mamba or a Now and Later, and has a notable citrus twist that dissipates quickly afterward. Breaking it down by hand, the grinds get even more intensely sweet and it really does smell like a strawberry lemonade at first, but it fluctuates and quickly flips back into Mamba territory while leaving a bit of a stick on the fingertips. The dry pull on the J comes off like a fruity sweet floral with a distant hint of chalk and a little bit of a vaporous undertone. The inhale is smooth and on the bong is very fruity with a well defined lick of strawberry, while on the joint it’s a chalky sugary sweet, with a fruity kick off the tongue and a gassy twist. The exhale on the joint is a fruity sweet floral where on the bong it’s more of a musty semi-sweet floral. Cross checking the flavor on my Ghost Vapes (RIP) MV1, at 170c its a very piney floral with a mint backing, whereas at 185c the floral intensifies but it still has a semi sweet piney side as well. The headchange on this is absolutely fantastic and checks all the boxes for me as a sativa fan. Within minutes on a wake and bake walk I noticed my energy was up and my mood was boosted, and even though I smoked through the joint faster than I expected, I was feeling awesome and decided to try to put that many more steps on my pedometer. I found myself clear headed and full of mental energy, happily crushing tasks I’d put off in the days before, and thoroughly relished in the sense of accomplishment I’d get when crossing something off my list. It felt almost like being a movie montage where Ludacris’ Money Maker plays in the background as the protagonist is just killing it at whatever is they are doing, high fiving their coworkers, and throwing stacks of cash around etc. Real TCOB shit. In a rec market full of heavy hybrids and indicas, this was a welcome breath of fresh air, and I started leaning on it as my daily driver in the morning until it was gone. I really enjoyed my time with this Strawberry Lemonade, it’s a fantastic sativa and I can for sure see myself picking it up again, especially if I can find it for around $50-$55 out the door. Solid work once again CBX, you guys are definitely putting out some high quality herb, and I can’t wait to get more of your library in the line up!
Fibonacci from Cali Kush Farms via The Kind Center on 10/20/2020 (shout out to my dude Cary for making it happen!). THC tested out to 31.69%. I was gifted this but it goes for . Huge shoutout up top to Abstrax Labs for reasons that will become clear later in the review. I had heard Fibonacci was a solid banger from a few different folks so I was stoked to see it in my Kind Center sample pack. The surface of these beautiful christmas tree shaped nugs are mostly a deep rich purple that dips into midnight blue with patches of chartreuse and forest green, plentiful pops of pumpkin pie colored pistils, all of which is absolutely flooded with a tsunami of glistening egg cream colored triches.
The nose out the jar is a sweet must overall, but when you give it a deep whiff there’s this echo of a sweet vomit like funk hovering around on the back end. On busting open a bud, a muted sweet cream emerges with a touch of that vomity funk kicking around in the background and just a hint of pastry. Breaking it down by hand you really get a sense for it’s solid density. It leaves a grungy semi-sweet yet savory zest on the fingertips, while the grinds themselves have that sweet vomity funk uptop with this additional cinnamon spice like element that’s hard to pin down, but comes off sort of like a sugar cookie or snickerdoodle when you pull back from it a bit. The dry pull on the joint has a strong semi minty candy sweetness that leaves a bit of a sugar smack on the lip afterward. The inhale on both the bong and the joint is smooth, and comes with a slightly chalky candy sweetness on the former, whereas it’s more of a fresh sweet floral on the latter. On the exhale from the bong I get a bit of a sweet chalky floral with a touch of cream, where the joint comes off as a sugar sweet floral with a distant acidic twist. Cross checking the flavors on my MV1 from Ghost Vapes at 170c, I get a sweet candy floral with a minty pine undertone, and at 185c it remains sweet but comes with a chalky lean and a piney floral chaser. This brings us back to the headchange, which comes on quick with a hazy touch, leaving me feeling slightly weightless and spacy. It depletes any sense of urgency I may have had, and while there are points where I lose the thread, for the most part I feel present and cognitively capable although easily distracted. Physically, while I do feel floaty and get a little bit of that ASMR like tingle at the base of my skull, I have zero motivation to leave my position on the couch and the idea of laying down becomes more enticing with every passing moment. It’s perfectly complementary to a lazy sunday where the only thing I have on the agenda is a few hours with Paper Mario and picking a series to mow through on Hulu. All and all, I really enjoyed my time with this batch of Fibonacci and I could definitely see myself grabbing some more, especially for the ticket it goes for at The Kind Center. Z-Cube from Caliva on 11/07/2020 (Huge shoutout to my dude Red Rodriguez for dropping it to me personally). THC tested out to 27.79%. I was gifted this jar but from what I can tell it should retail for $38 pre-tax at Deli by Caliva in Bellflower. Caliva is one of the bigger corporate cannabis efforts here in California, and while in the distant past I’ve had a couple less than stellar experiences, I’ve heard awesome things about Z-Cube from trusted sources so I was stoked to have the opportunity to jump in and see for myself. These bitsy buds are a bit rough on the eye at first glance, but on closer examination you can see the surface is a mix of chartreuse and pear green with dusty mauve lilts, bunches of copper pistils, and a healthy coat of egg cream and golden yellow triches.
The nose out of the jar is a sugary sweet must that has a slight bright citrus lean. Busting open a bud that sugar sweetness amps up, and brings a fruity candy vibe with it, pushing that mustiness out of the picture all together. Breaking it down by hand, the grinds have a really bright sweet lemon lime citrus scent with a touch of orange zest, while my fingers are left with a semi sweet mustiness coating them. A dry pull on the joint hits with a sweet floral and a citrus twist. The inhale is smooth, and comes with a lemon lime soda like taste off the bong, whereas the joint is more of a sweet yet acidic tang. The exhale is a sweet lemon like must on the bong, where the joint comes through with that sweet lemon lime candy quality, and just a hint of cream on the joint. Cross checking the flavors on my MV1 from Ghost Vapes, at 170c I get a very strong pine lime floral combo that leaves a bit of a piney aftertaste on the tongue, where at 185c I get an extremely vaporous floral with the lime and pine still coming through heavily but pulled back in comparison to 170. The headchange comes on quick and packs an unexpected wallop that left me starry eyed near immediately. On my joint walk, after a couple of puffs, my sense of urgency completely disappeared as I floated down the street taking in the environment but internally tumbling through a myriad of non sequitur thoughts. By the time I arrived back home I was in a totally different mindset, the tensions of the day thoroughly wiped away, my mind flipping back and forth between being present and spacing out, and my body happily making its way to the couch. It’s far too heavy for a wake and bake on during the work week but if you’ve got nothing on the books for the day and are looking for something that will allow you to forget your troubles, kick back and relax, and just have that general warm and fuzzy vibe while spacing in and out of reality, this Z-Cube will get you there. That said, I’m not sure I’d pick it up again at the ticket it goes for in one of Caliva’s stores as there is a lot of awesome smoke in the same range, and despite being jarred these buds were not up to par aesthetics wise. However, if I were able to find them out the door at the pre-tax rate, I’d be on board to grab more as it really does have a fantastic and satisfying headchange. Passible effort by Caliva, not the best looking buds, but it definitely gets the job done well!
Purp DDV (Purple Double Deja Vu) from Panecea Farm via OC3 Dispensary on 10/29/2020 (Huge shoutout to awesome folks and Panacea and OC3 for making it happen). THC tested out to 26.39%. This goes for $55 pre-tax but if you pick up an ounce of Panacea you get 25% off at OC3 which should basically wipe out the tax. After a great experience with their lower tier offering, I was absolutely stoked to get my hands on these jars with the fancy wax emblem on top, and having heard praise for Purp DDV in particular I decided to dive into it first. The surface of these two big beautiful Christmas tree shaped nugs are a mix of pear and sea green, with large veins of rich wine purples that dip into darker hues of midnight blue, coupled with clandestine copper pistils that are present but nearly go unnoticed due to the copious amounts of attention stealing canary colored triches that give the budscape as a whole a light golden glow.
The nose out of the jar hits like an overripe sickly sweet fruit, sort of like how a melon will smell right before it goes bad, with a touch freshness in the background. Busting open a bud, a flat sweet pastry emerges up top, but there’s still a fresh “gassiness” right behind it. When breaking it down by hand bits of bud stick to the fingers leaving a sweet fruity must on them, while the grinds also come hard with that sweet fruitiness, the freshness is amped up simultaneously and really attempts to dominate the scent profile resulting in this overall old school waxy fruit candy kind of smell that’s reminiscent of cherry wax lips. A dry pull on the jay has a deep rich fruit that’s hard to pin down, but comes in somewhere between mixed berry and maybe honeydew, but it’s hard to say as it’s all sort of clumped together flavor wise. The inhale is smooth and on the joint comes off as a sweet floral mint whereas the bong is essentially the same but a bit more subtle. The exhale on the bong is a creamy must with a hint of mint pine in the background, whereas the joint really brings out that freshness, with a sweet cool minty quality that temporarily lingers on the tongue. Cross checking the flavors on my MV1 from @ghostvapesofficial at 170c, I get a minor cooling effect and a light fresh floral with a hint of fruit, where at 185c I get a stronger cooling effect but the taste is a muddled combo of sweet floral and fruit that’s definitely there but once again hard to pull apart. The headchange comes on quick and has a wonderful anxiety blasting smack that completely obliterates any ill feelings you may have had just prior to smoking it. It seems cliche to say, but in these trying times, this Purp DDV definitely helped me achieve some welcome calm and perspective. Physically, I felt a nice ASMR like tingle from the neck down into the lower spine, and a bit of that classic stoney weightlessness that gives you a general warm fuzzy vibe while you’re just existing. It doesn’t hamper your ability to be present, and doesn’t really interfere with your capacity to think, but there is this carefree aspect that one should be cognizant of as it may cause you to not feel the gravitas of certain subjects. That, admittedly, is part of the reason I really liked it though. All and all I really enjoyed my time with this strain, it puts me in a chill “forget all your worries” mindset with a soothing body buzz to boot, and for the ticket it goes for at OC3 I’d have no problem copping it again (especially with the volume discount in play). Great job on this one Panacea, you guys are definitely putting out some top notch heat and I can’t wait to bust through more of your library, excellent work!
