So there was a lot of hype when this was dropping and it got me excited to try it. Right away looking at it there’s no doubt that this really clean 6* hash. I instantly think of the white sands of a tropical beach but even more pure in color. When opening and taking a smell your immediately hit with this creamy vanilla cake gas and sweetness that really stands out and is surprising loud after a fresh thaw. The consistency once thawed started to stick together even when there was no evidence of greasing up. Made it a little like working with a more manageable fresh press.
When dabbing it’s this creamy cake flavor that really is sweet like a dessert with this gassy element that really makes it something I want to dab again and again. I remember reading a previous review that really had me excited that this was going to be a heavy dab I don’t remember who it was but really doesn’t matter because it wasn’t that for me. It was a nice relaxing high and definitely substantial enough for me to be stoked on it and really made watching tv a much more engaging experience and my movie quite a bit funnier. Overall I’m stoked on this one great looking hash that has awesome terps and melts super clean with a very enjoyable high. I would say if you get a chance to try this one do it.
After smelling some good stuff by Rose I was eager to try. Unfortunately they didn’t have what I got a look and smell of but was pretty stoked they had just dropped Rose Runtz. Beautiful looking buds that I’m not sure of the grow method but based on the structure I’m guessing organic living soil. Striking contrasting colors of greens and purples with so much resin coverage that it gives it a silver shimmer. The rust orange pistils really make the colors pop and give this flower a really nice look.
When smelling you could smell a little sweetness similar to gelato but so much of the runtz sweetness. Also lots of gas and then some odd burning rubber chem smell. It was honestly a concerning and and not appetizing smell. The structure was nice and easy to work with but when picking it apart was still unfinished and a little too damp. When smoking it tasted like it smelled for better or worse. The ash wasn’t great but not black. It didn’t burn dirty but didn’t really burn clean. The high was pretty standard I felt relaxed pretty quickly and in a better mood but the taste was distracting and kept my mind ruminating on it as I sat there high. I think a lot of my problem was personal preference as I had a fairly picky buddy grab the rest from me because I didn’t enjoy enough to finish. Overall it looks fire smells interesting smokes like it smells and although a little wet I don’t think any of the issues were grow or chemical related. So if I could get the right strain and smell it ahead of time would possibly get again but at the price tag would have to be just right.
Pancake Ice from Houseplant (aka Crescendo from THCDesign) via The Peoples OC on 04/15/2021. THC tested out to 32.21%. Purchased for $70.35 out the door.
When Seth Rogen announced that his weed brand was coming to California my phone basically blew up. Message after message from the casual smokers in my life started to pour in asking me if I had heard the news. Everyone was stoked, me included, we all wanted to get in on what we thought were special phenos that Seth had helped in hunting himself. However, in drips and drabs, information started to trickle in and paint a different picture. These were not special strains that had been painstakingly massaged to perfection for the purpose of bringing something new and unique to the California marketplace by America’s Favorite Stoner, they were simply the same 3 strains that THC Design had white labeled for Method Man’s TICAL brand months earlier, and that were readily available on the shelves of tons of dispensaries at a lesser ticket in THC Design jars. Furthermore, at the time, there seem to be a concerted effort from Houseplant to obscure the fact they were simply rejarring white labeled weed as they were being hush hush with journalists about who their partners were and even went so far as to change the batch IDs (which originally had “crescendo” in it) to a series of numbers and letters that further distanced themselves from the herbs’ origin. They have since corrected that issue and have just recently been fairly open about their partnerships on their instagram page which was nice to see. This should have been their MO from the start as it establishes trust with the consumer, but now I just see Houseplant for what it is, another white label powered celebrity cash grab. That said, let’s get to the review.
The surface of this fairly big nug and his smaller counterpart is mostly a mix of mint, sage and tea greens that dip into forest at times, with gangly veins of amber pistils, all of which are awash in a sea of white and egg cream colored bird spike triches.
The nose out of the jar is a semi-sweet thyme like mustiness, almost like a dimmer version of thyme itself, but has this musty spice cabinet quality with a hint of vague pepper. Breaking open a bud it sweetens up a bit and introduces a bright floral with a touch of fruit and a bit of a “tongue a 9volt battery” electric edge. Busting it down by hand my fingertips get a freshness on them that leans heavy on the pine but the mint is very present as well. The grinds are a mix of sweet floral and freshness with some distant fruit that when combined, come off like some hipster wax lips made with all natural ingredients, while a mustiness kicks around way off in the background.
A dry pull on the joint hits with a sweet floral and light chalk with an underlying herbaceous tone and a peppery lilt. The inhale is smooth, and has a peppery mint tang on the joint, whereas the bong is more of a vague floral must. The exhale from the bong is a musty peppery cream with a hint of that 9volt action, whereas the joint is much more complex and hard to pin down, but comes through with a semi sweet floral and a musty fresh underpinning with a spicy zing that hits the septum and a cream quality that seemed to phase in and out of existence. Cross checking the flavor on my GhostVapes MV1 at 170c, there’s a light sweet floral and very distant pine with a muted fresh aftertaste where at 185c, that sweet floral remains but it’s still very light and has an even lighter hoppy beer aftertaste.
The headchange is fantastic and exactly what I look for in a sativa which makes absolutely sense as Crescendo is still one of my all time favorites in that category. So this batch, even though it bears a new moniker, is really no different. The headchange comes on quick with a racy paranoia that causes me near instantly to get up and pace around in search of an outlet for the surge of physical energy. There’s a discomfort that develops from sitting still and before I even realized what I was doing I was up and moving and I didn’t even know why. When out for a joint walk, as I burned through the first part, I felt my stride pick up speed and an added bounce in my step. Mentally I was moving a bit too fast to focus. My mind kept jumping from task to task, and while it did help me get through some planning that I’d been avoiding and happen upon some solutions I hadn’t thought of previously, I was a little too amped to be able to sit down at the computer and actually follow through on them.
All and all, while maybe not the most eye popping or tastiest herb (which could have degraded faster than normal due to this poorly designed tin), the effects from this batch of Pancake Ice are the real prize here. In a sea of gelato crosses the headchange really stands out, and being a sativa head, I really enjoy the heart pounding get up and go that it provides. The real question is, would I buy it again? The answer? Absolutely not because I can just go get Crescendo in a THC Design jar for less and get the same exact experience. Minus the struggle of opening this tin of course and knowing that the money is going directly to the grower, as opposed to a brand that’s trying to dig extra cash out of my pocket for no added incentive outside of a slightly bigger nug and making me feel “cool” due to the parasocial relationship I have with Seth Rogen because I thought Pineapple Express was funny. Houseplant ditch the jars, get some unique phenos and I’ll be back, but until then deuces!
Sweetz from Cali Kush Farms via The Kind Center on 1/12/2021 (shout out to Cali Kush Farms for making it happen!). THC tested out to 30.02%. This was gifted to but regularly goes for less than $50 out the door at The Kind Center. Everything that I’ve had from Cali Kush thus far has been pretty damn awesome so without further ado, let’s get into this batch of Sweetz.
The surface of these hulked out buds is mostly a mix of sage and hunter greens with lime and midnight blue accents that dip into deep aubergine at points, coupled with pumpkin orange pistils, all of which is frosted over in a beautiful blast of white and egg cream colored triches.
The nose out of the jar is a sweet minty must with a touch of grungy fruit and a distant chalk. Busting open a bud that sweet mint amps up, as does the fruitiness, but it leans slightly sweeter as the musty aspect dips off completely. Breaking it down by hand it leaves a light minty pine with a far off dingy herbaceous note on my fingertips as well as a sticky trich grime, whereas the grinds themselves have a dirty sweet fruit quality with a nearly off putting sour note, it’s a sweetness with an earthy zing that almost hits my nose like a toned down freshly chopped ginger root.
The dry pull on the joint comes across with a subtle chalky sweet floral and a vaporous mint that lingers on the lips. The inhale is smooth, and also has a chalky sweet floral with a slightly fresh must underneath on the joint, whereas the bong is more of a light sweet floral with a fruity lean. The exhale is a muted fresh floral must with a minor herbaceous zing on the joint whereas the bong is a very light sweet fruit that hits me sort of like a watermelon flavored Hint water with a minty pine aftertaste. Cross checking the flavors on my GhostVapes MV1, at 170c it’s a light sweet floral with a strong pine aftertaste whereas at 185c, it’s essentially the same but the pine seems to shift into more of a piney mint giving it an overall fresher taste.
The headchange came on fairly quick but also took some time to fully ramp up. At first, I felt capable and cognizant but in a short amount of time I started to question myself, stumble over my words, my memory recall was absolutely shot, and it became intensely difficult to hold on to thoughts as they would manifest and then mere seconds later would evaporate. While I found myself thoroughly stunted, it’s stranglehold on my cognition did taper off to much more manageable levels about 20 minutes in. Physically I felt a mild weight throughout my entire body, mostly on the shoulders and upper back, and a slight numbing effect across my forehead and sinuses. There’s also a small dose of feel good energy that had me swaying back and forth and bobbing my head to the beat of the music I had playing in the background as I tried to finish up what I was working on at that moment. Over time that too fades, and while I would tend to save smoking this for the evening, I found myself caught off guard by how sleepy I got seemingly out of nowhere to the point I’d start nodding out on the couch before heading off to bed in a heavy-eyed stupor.
All and all, I dug this batch of Sweetz, it’s got a solid smack that throws you for a hard initial loop, but settles into a warm comfortable buzz that’s excellent for that post work transition period into a relaxing evening. For the fair ticket it goes for at The Kind Center I’d be on board to grab more no doubt. Excellent work once again Cali Kush Farms, y’all are great at what you do, keep these bangers coming!
After trying a little bit of a buddies Yellow Zushi I was really eager to get and review. Many thanks to Percy Terps and Ftt for making it happen. The appearance of the flower definitely has a lot of the bushy zkittlez characteristics but there are some other buds that seem more influenced by the Kushmints and have a more traditional structure. Nice bright lime green color with some sporadic spots of hunter green. Slightly above avg coverage of pistils and slightly below average coating of trichomes also typical for zkittlez strains.
When smelling you get very sweet candy and citrus terps. I heard few people say they tasted pineapple terps but to me it was like an overripe grapefruit mixed with some pine and earthiness. When smoking I honestly wish the smell came through more. You definitely got the typical artificial menthol candy terps at a good strength but the grapefruit terps almost completely disappear. That in its self would have been fire but unfortunately it have a very bitter finish and didn’t burn the best. The positive out weighed the negative but compared to the previous batch I was disappointed. The high came on through the eyes and spread down the body with a warm sensation of happiness and stress relief. When smoking before bed it was great for me but be careful because it could easily get your mind over active if you’re prone to that. Overall I was disappointed with the burn but still can’t advise you to avoid because if you catch the right batch it’s going to be some of the best smoke out right now.
I really feel like Resin Ranch is one of the best hash makers in the game without a doubt. Plus if you ever had the pleasure of communicating with him he’s a genuinely nice guy. So right away that makes me want to support. This jar of hash was nearly white in color and of the cold cure variety. Definitely looking more wet than the other flavor I grabbed.
When smelling you definitely get that pungent sweet and sickening smell of papaya in this case the smell was sweeter than usual and I was attributing that too the Purple Punch in the cross. When dabbing you get a mixed fruit candy taste. You a taste the papaya but has a different sweetness to it and reminded me of a special flavor of Kool-aid. The high comes on pretty quickly mostly a head high. Very Euphoric and has that uplifting feel that makes you want to go out and socialize. Its also great for physical activities especially creative ones. The one negative is that it was so terpy that it was slightly harsh or it could have been that flavor combo and I couldn’t handle large dabs of it. Overall another banger by Resin Ranch and even though it wasn’t perfect for me you can really tell it’s fire.
Gelonade is definitely one of my favorite strains and I was hearing that the Elite batch by Tenco was some fire. The flower itself although nothing wrong with it some would say it has a boring appearance. The buds had a nice mix of light and darker greens with a uniform pattern of pistils that overall gives the bud a speckled look. A decent coating of resin that has everything looking nice. Small squatty buds that we’re cured nice and easy to remove stems and such.
When smelling you get the sharp citrus that I recognized write away as lemon tree’s contribution to the flower also very sweet and creamy with a smooth smoke. I had Connected’s version close to this one and although very similar the Ten co’s version burned better tasted stronger with extra gas. And none of the weird bitter finish. The high was also a bit stronger and came on through the head first and as your eyes start to feel it you start to notice just an overall relaxed feeling throughout the whole body. Definitely a really good mood elevator and not sleepy high so great for social situations or low energy creative ventures. Like not drumming because my arms felt slow. Overall another winner by Ten co and look forward to more elite batches.
So I have to admit I wasn’t very excited by this one and the look of the flowers wasn’t too much more exciting. Very dense nugs that give some of them a look of a Football. The color has a grey appearance because of the heavy coating of trichomes with some greens and yellows peaking throughout with little bits of purple. Barely visible pistils are tucked in tightly.
Now when I started smelling the flowers my perception really started to change as I was smelling some tangy citrus very similar to Lemon tree and some fruitiness that reminded me of a Cherry cough drop with a creamy gelato notes too. When smoking you definitely get that citrus and cherry flavors mixed and even though I couldn’t detect the creaminess I could definitely taste the sweetness and overall was really surprised by the quality of the smell and taste of this flower. The high was really nice as it comes on through the eyes and then seems to spread throughout the body. Leaving you uplifted and relaxed with decent munchies and ready to socialize or create. I don’t think this is the best night time weed as I really feel it stimulates my mind and inward thinking just as an added note but I also believe that’s why I enjoyed so much for creative activities. Overall I was really surprised and stoked on this flower and definitely would like to try more by them.
Dosi Mac from CAM via ShowGrow in Long Beach on 2/21/2021 (shout out to @dude_doing_things on instagram for making it happen!). THC tested out to 32.63%. This was gifted to me but it averages in that 50-60 pre tax range from what I have seen. I’ve heard a lot of great things about CAM, so when my boy Travis aka dude_doing_things offered me a jar of their Dosi Mac, I found it to be an offer I simply could not refuse. The surface of these dense shrub shaped buds are a mix of sage, tea and hunter greens coupled with tracts of cantaloupe orange pistis, all of which is hazed over in a wash of white and crystal clear triches.
The nose out of the jar is a sweet must with a distant spice cabinet edge. On busting open a bud, that sweetness brightens up a bit and gets more sugar-like in nature, while also bringing with it a touch of fruity cream and an echo of herbaceousness. Breaking it down by hand a very muted must and freshness lingers on my fingertips, whereas the grinds themselves carry more a sweet fruity flat cream that hits my nose sort of like a strawberry yogurt, but with the strawberry aspect being emphasized over that one dimensional cream.
The dry pull on the jay is a toned down sweet floral with an herbaceous lilt and a hint of cream. The inhale is smooth and on the joint comes with a very light sweet floral cream, whereas the bong is essentially the same but has a hint of that herbal characteristic. The exhale on the joint is a sweet floral cream with a spicy herbaceous edge whereas the bong is more of a straight sugar sweet floral with distant fresh fruity nod on bong. Cross checking the flavors on my GhostVapes MV1, at 170c I get a very light sweet floral with a faint pine, whereas at 185c it’s an even lighter sweet floral with a minty pine follow up.
The headchange comes on quick with a healthy initial slap but also has a creeper effect that ramps things up even further over a short period of time. Mentally I didn’t feel too worse for wear, I was able to focus if need be, although there were a few moments where I’d have the realization I was completely spaced out and cognitively miles away from what I was working on. I also noticed that over time, especially in the early evening, my drive to accomplish tasks on my to-do list waned hard to the point where I’d tell myself “welp, there’s always tomorrow”. Physically, right after smoking my body felt lighter and I got a bit of that floating chest sort of feeling, and over time there’s a slight ASMR like tingle that radiated from the base of my neck out to the edges of my shoulders.
All and all I dug this batch of Dosi Mac from CAM, even though it’s age is a bit higher than ideal when it comes to reviewing, it held up surprisingly well so I can definitely see myself grabbing a fresher batch at some point to contrast and compare the experiences. Great work CAM, your reputation is well deserved, and I’m definitely hyped on getting in on more of your library in the near future.
Been long overdue for some Resin Ranch in my life! And Guava Mints was a great one to grab. When observing the color is this perfect slightly yellowed white and although I felt there could have been a little more moisture you could definitely smell that the terps were there.
When smelling you get this pungent tropical stink that smells delicious and repulsive all at the same time. With a bit of a cool menthos type smell similar to what you get In Zushi. When tasting you get this tropical funk that really coats your mouth in terps. Very similar to papaya but sweeter and more fruity than pungent. The only thing I picked up different from the standard Guava was some earthy and pine taste slightly there. On a side note this jar got left out in the heat when camping and the consistency had changed and pretty much buddered up but the flavor was still very good and strong still. Overall very stoked I got to try this as had been awhile since I had Resin Ranch and I can’t wait to get some more of their awesome flavors.
