Finally got my hands on some the classics dropped by the Alien. This flower had really nice bag appeal. The different shades of purple combined with the different shades of green and the orange pistils almost gives this flower a bit of a rainbow appearance. Was also covered quite thickly by sticky resin that left some of those creamy gelato terps on my hand.
Upon opening the jar the first thing I noticed was the almost abrasive smell of gas and pine just really burned my nose was so intense. If I kept smelling I also could pick up the familiar gelato sweet creaminess. When smoking I tasted all gas and earthy terps and really expanded my lungs and had me coughing everytime. This was clean and well cured but not smooth smoke and I believe that just come with the terps. So if you like that big Og gas smoke that hurts so good I can definitely recommend this strain. For me I like more complex terps and taste and a little smoother. The structure was great and very easy to break apart. The high was outstanding came on fast and hard and definitely left me feeling relaxed. This isn’t a good strain to be active with as its very sedating even with my high tolerance I found myself feeling lazy and sluggish trying to play drums after. All in all this is another winner from alien labs but not my exact preference.
Heard from friends and followers that this was worth a try so when I saw at dispo I picked up with little hesitation. I saw lots of mixed information on the genetics so I will leave that off of here. The look on this flower was really nice and the first thing I noticed was a healthy coating on resin that really had the flowers sticking to my hands. The color was really a pale hunter green with little peeks of purple here and there with pistils popping out with no discernible pattern. I do see a possibility of some foxtailing but not completely sure. The structure was really nice and easy to break apart and remove stems.
When opening the bag you’re met immediately with a musky pine and earth smell with a little bit of sweetness. When smoking it smokes like a straight Og all kinds of pine and earthy terps. Maybe some citrus? And definitely sweet and cooling in my mouth. Not overly like mint but just slightly. The high was very nice as it was uplifting and mood elevating without the energetic feel and it helped with pain and relaxed me but I never got too tired. All in all it was great smoking weed with a great effect. The taste didn’t really have me craving more but also didn’t turn me away. Look for more granflora reviews coming soon.
Flo white by the real cannabis ChrisI like a balance of heavy couch lock strains, fun social strains and even energetic make you clean the house strains. So when I saw Flo White I grabbed mostly for the effect and honestly was just trying to taste everything I could by Chris. The Cannabis Chris fresh press always looks a little special with a transparency that’s been nicknamed “clear tech” because of how little the light is scattered or diffused much like water and you can clearly see the lettering on the label through the golden glob of rosin.
When smelling I get little bits of sweet pine and Little bit of mint coolness. The dab tasted very similar and although it’s not the strongest taste you pick up pine and earthy notes with some citrus or something slightly tart and also some cooling effect similar to mint but not mint flavored. The high had a very quick head change that was a uplifting happy feeling and definitely had me ready to hang and have some fun. Overall this wasn’t the tastiest dab I’ve had but also there was nothing that tasted bad and melted clean. The high though was exactly as I hoped and you can tell by the strength and length of time it lasted that it was high quality product with more than likely great source material.
Zelda weed! I have to admit I bought this based on packaging and strain alone. Big ole foxtailed buds here. Based on the way it’s not only stacking but coming out all sides guessing genetics and not stress. I don’t grow so I’m just guessing based on dumbass logic. Would love to hear experienced feedback. Really vibrant greens with little dots of rust colored pistils here and there. Really nice coating of Frost that rounds out the look of this wonderful looking flower.
When smelling the first thing I noticed was a very rich lemon gas that burns my nose and pleases my senses all at the same time it reminds me of lemon tree but with a vanilla creaminess. To me lemon tree always taste like a combo of lemon and orange terps and I can definitely taste both here. On the exhale I get vanilla cream that almost gave it a 50/50 bar taste. The high was great for playing drums and guitar but also work well pre workout. I also very much enjoyed as a wake and bake. It’s not super energetic but also not sedative but definitely gets your creative mind churning and make mundane activity much more enjoyable. To say this flower smoke clean and tasty would be an understatement. This is the best flower I’ve have in 21 no doubt. On a side note I grabbed a 2nd time from the next drop and unfortunately something went a little wrong and there was some bitterness on the exhale and flower burning very black. The impression I get though is that Hylia takes his craft very seriously and his runs will only get more consistent and who knows maybe he can make this taste even better.
Had some enjoyable Fresh Baked at a buddies and I remembered a really good review done by a buddy of OCD by KRD so was pretty excited to try this. The flowers are pretty nice looking with a great blend of purples and greens with rusty orange pistils everywhere. Great amount of frost really gives this flower great bag appeal.
The smell was surprising as it was definitely loud with sugary sweet doughiness but the orange part was very subtle and for some that may be preferable but for me was disappointing. The taste when smoking was a bit disappointing as it just reminded me of a bland wedding cake. Definitely smoked clean and the cookie terps were good just was hoping for more citrus too. The high was relaxing and sedative and definitely elevated my mood. Overall wasn’t bad smoke but not great smoke either with it being smooth but rather flavorless smoke. I’ll still try some other flavors based on other experiences but the OCD was disappointing.
So I started to see this brand pop up with some interesting strain names and this one definitely peeked my interest. Something that sounds really cool but not sure of how much of an effect it would have is the fact that they claim it’s cultivated by the fresh snow melt of Mt. Shasta. Sounds super cool and refreshing. This flower was quite pretty and really had nice contrasting purples and greens that really made the colors pop. Rust colored pistils all about. Really heavy coating of trichomes that really make this flower appetizing.
When smelling I was able to pick out some subtle sweet fruity terps but weren’t strong enough to identify. Also picked up on what I thought at first could have kind been Carmel but after reading the description I decided maybe it was the coffee finish they claimed. When smoking the taste was really disappointing none of the fruity or sweet terps came through a little bit of the coffee/Carmel did and lots of earth and pine terps. The high was pretty standard not too strong not too weak. Just felt relaxed and in a better mood. Didn’t really make me disoriented or high just in a better mood. Overall I’d like to try more by this company as I’ve heard some good things and hopefully this middle of the line flower was just a fluke.
Unruly OG from Blem Vibe / Cali Lotus via Show Grow Long Beach on 2/21/2021 (shout out to @dude_doing_things for making it happen!). THC tested out to 32.099%. I was lucky to get this at an awesome discount thanks to Dude Doing Things as it goes for $70 pretax at Show Grow. Even at Catalyst this will run you a pretty penny at something like $76 out the door. After a recent subpar experience with some rec market Billy Kimber, a lot of followers told me part of the reason for the poor showing was Cali Lotus was no longer growing it and that I needed to do myself a favor and try some Unruly OG from Blem, so I was stoked when my boy @dude_doing_things came through with a batch. The surface of these bulbous billowing buds are mostly a mix of sage, olive and lime greens with plentiful pops of tangerine and cider orange pistils, and a delicate frosting of clear and egg cream colored triches.
The nose out of the jar is a sweet floral with fuel and a touch of lemon accompanied by some musty spice lingering in the background. Busting open a nug, that sweet floral fuel combo gets even louder, and brightens up a bit with the introduction of a minor fresh element. Breaking it down my hand, my fingers are sticky and smell of sweet floral piney fuel, where the grinds themselves are more of a pearl-sugar sweet floral with an astringent lemon twist and a strong vaporous undertone.
The dry pull on the joint is a gassy sweetness with a hint of freshness and distant lemon candy lilt. The inhale is smooth on the joint initially and has a light lemon floral sweetness, whereas the bong comes with a less tightly defined muted sweet floral experience. The exhale on the joint is a gassy semi perfume like floral with distant sweet lemon, whereas the bong had more of a sweet cream quality with a piney perfume floral backing. It should be noted the joint did start to get slightly harsh about three quarters of the way through, but it wasn’t a show stopper by any means. Cross checking the flavor on my Ghost Vapes MV1, at 170c I get a minor cooling sensation on the way in and a very piney exhale with a lingering floral pine aftertaste, whereas at 185c that strong pine remains, making itself known even on the inhale, while leaving a heavy pinesol aftertaste in your mouth for what seems like minutes afterward.
The preliminary headchange comes on quick but is deceptive as it made me feel as if it didn’t pack much of a punch. I was gullible enough to smoke a second bowl and only a good 10 minutes after that did the true effects of this batch of Unruly begin to set in. Unnoticeable at first, I found myself thinking about getting up from the kitchen table to do some work at the computer, and then not moving. I thought about it again, yet I remained sat at the kitchen table, taking in the ever widening disconnect between my will and the reality of the situation at hand. I was in the clutches of a classic case of couchlock. Moments earlier I was surprised at how cognizant and lively I felt and now I started to feel all of that energy drain away. Mustering all possible remaining resolve, I managed to stand up and walk a few feet to the couch, sit down and settle into an awkward yet surprisingly comfortable forty five degree side lean. I foolishly attempted to focus on what was on TV as my eyelids slowly started to collapse and I faded from consciousness. 1:45pm – Total knockout. At some point I managed to make my way to my bed and continued to sleep there for a few hours. I woke up in a stupor, unsure of how long I’d been napping but I quickly took comfort in the fact it was still light outside. That sort of feeling is very reminiscent of how the old black bag Billy Kimber used to hit me so I can see why this came so highly recommended.
Unruly is a solid, well grown OG, with a hardcore creeper to sleeper slap that is rarity in rec market offerings these days. It’s a hard hitting flower that I will not be wake and baking on again any time soon, but I will save what I have left for those nights where I find myself tossing and turning with no reprieve, as it’s the absolute perfect remedy for those situations. That said, while I really enjoyed my time with this batch, I don’t see myself picking it up again any time soon as the ticket is fairly high and there’s a lot of other top tier flower out there I haven’t had the pleasure of trying yet. However, if I found myself battling a weeks long bout of insomnia this would be the first strain I’d try to find to help end it. Solid job all around Cali Lotus, it’s evident in this batch alone that you’re capable of putting out high caliber herb, as this batch of Unruly definitely met the lofty expectations I had for it. Great work!
Another Z cross by these guys or gals sure. Why not? These buds were all pretty small and pretty much popcorn nugs. I know that’s not a huge factor but sometimes the smaller nugs are more tedious to pick apart and pull the stems out. This one though honestly wasn’t too bad. Lots of different shades of green here too with some purples peeking through here and there. The resin is pretty thick and almost gives the bud that hairy spider leg look along with having some impact on the color of the flowers adding some silver and white hues.
The smell is the pungent pine and woodsy and sweet fragrances underneath. Maybe a bit of citrus or some kind of sour fruit. When smoking you get this harsh woodsy and earthy taste with some pine on the exhale. Sounds really boring as I try to describe it but it definitely wasn’t. The high was relaxing and definitely made me feel unmotivated to do much. Made a perfect night cap. This flower too had the boveda packs so I have to wonder what the terps would have been like without. I’m noticing their new packaging is the Mylar bags so I’m hoping with a better seal they’ll decide not to need the packs anymore. Overall I’ve liked everything I’ve tried by this brand but have heard very mixed reviews because of the boveda pack and lack of terps. So if they’re still providing that I’d make sure to pay close attention to packaging dates.
The name of this one had me excited because any fruit name combined with Z ends up being tasty. The look of this flower definitely showed it’s sativa genetics as the biggest nug has the long narrow structure typically seen in sativa genetics. Different shades of green and rusty pistils spread about. Has a nice healthy coating of trichomes too that really rounds out this beautiful flower perfectly. Structure and cure was good and easy to work with.
When smelling I get bits of doughiness and citrus along with some musky and pine smells. When smoking instead of the sweet citrus I was expecting it came out more like bitter lime peel with just a tad bit of citrus and pungent skunk. I kept smoking out of different glass trying to get the taste right but never was really enjoyable not bad like dirty but just an unenjoyable taste and smoke. The high was good energetic and uplifting and would be great in social situations but wasn’t very long lasting. Overall this was my least favorite offering from Surefire Selections but might just be a personal preference because everything burned clean and looked good. I’ll still be looking for other flavors by them.
Z-41 from Cali Kush Farms via The Kind Center on 1/12/2020 (shout out to Cali Kush Farms for making it happen!). THC tested out to 30.93%. I was gifted this sample but The Kind Center usually has deals and I’d say you could most likely get this for around $45 out the door if not less. Having had an awesome experience with everything from Cali Kush Farms thus far, I was absolutely stoked when they hit me up and told me they had a care package of fresh flower waiting for me at The Kind Center, so I swooped in as soon as I possibly could. These buxom buds appear entirely Space blue with only the smallest of patches being a forest green coming through, accompanied by pale cantaloupe orange pistils, all of which is difficult to discern because the surface is absolutely shrouded in a thick canopy of bright highlighter yellow triches.
The nose out of the jar is a sickly and sugary sweet fruit coupled with a floral musty undertone and some distant freshness. Busting open a bud the sugary sweet fruit amps up a bit as that fresh mint quality makes its way to the foreground. Breaking it down by hand, my fingers are absolutely coated in sticky bits of bud and a floral sweet freshness, while the grinds themselves are essentially that same sweet fruit and bright mint with a vaporous backing that comes off like a fruit version of a Halls lozenge.
The dry pull on the joint is a very sugary sweet minty floral with a bit of candy fruitiness in the background and leaves me with a slightly mentholated lip. The inhale is smooth and is a muted sugar sweet floral on the bong, whereas the joint is essentially the same, but that sugar sweet floral is sharper and more clearly defined. The exhale on the bong is surprisingly a sweet musty cream with a touch of light fruit in the background whereas the joint comes with a sweet fruity floral and a touch of freshness. Cross checking the flavors on my Ghost Vapes MV1, at 170c I get sugar sweet floral and pine with a touch of mint, whereas at 185c the sugar sweet floral remains as the pine falls off a bit with an aftertaste that’s reminiscent of a strange mix of skunky beer and light sugar cookie.
The headchange comes on quick with a hazy headed smack that left me cognitively stunted and has a minorly energetic paranoid edge. Seriously, if your brain is required to be in working order in any capacity then I’d advise avoiding this strain until a time where you have absolutely nothing of consequence to accomplish on your agenda and you’re able to let your mind wander into the depths of outer space. I was able to conceptualize with ease however I could not stay focused no matter how hard I tried, and when talking I’d find myself constantly experiencing that tip of the tongue feeling and having to settle for another word because the one I wanted would simply not manifest in the moment. Physically I felt my eyes lower a touch, as a little weight settled into my shoulders, and a slight tingle made its way down my spine.
All and all I really enjoyed my time with Z-41, it’s a tasty brain crippling smoke that pairs excellently with a cup of coffee on a wake and bake, and works well as an anytime smoke when you’re looking to get mentally obliterated without fear of knocking out prematurely. I’d definitely grab it again if I saw a fresh drop at The Kind Center. Great job on this one CKF, another solid heater, keep up the fantastic work!
